Rosa Bonheur

Born in Bordeaux, France. Rosa Bonheur was a French Animaliere and Artist.

As a painter she became famous for two paintings in particular. 1. Ploughing in the Nivernais. First exhibited in 1848 and now in the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. 2. The Horse Fair. Exhibited 1853 and finished in 1855. Now in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

She was wideley considered to have been the most famous female painter of the nineteenth century.
